App privacy policy

Privacy policy for the Pixel and Pine LED Controller app. Effective November 4, 2026.

Pixel and Pine LED Controller is provided by Pixel & Pine (2873067 ONTARIO LTD., Ontario, Canada) to control compatible LED signs over Bluetooth. This policy explains the app's data practices. It applies to the app, rather than purchases or general browsing on the Pixel & Pine website.

Information the app accesses and uses

The app scans for nearby compatible Bluetooth signs and uses their Bluetooth device identifiers to connect and reconnect to signs you select. It reads controller information such as firmware version, supported lighting features, light settings and battery information where available. It sends lighting commands, configurations and setup settings directly to the sign over Bluetooth.

On your phone, the app stores saved sign identifiers and names, the last connection time, lighting configurations and setup settings, and records used to import older configurations onto supported boards. Compatible firmware also stores light configurations, board setup and the selected startup default in the controller's local memory. These records make reconnection, lighting control and startup behaviour work.

Accounts, collection and sharing

The app does not require an account, include advertising or analytics, collect advertising identifiers, or send your sign information or app usage to a Pixel & Pine server. It does not determine, record or upload your geographic location. We do not sell or share the app's locally stored sign data with advertisers or data brokers.

Sign settings are transferred to the controller you choose over Bluetooth. There is no Pixel & Pine cloud account or remote copy of your sign library for us to access or delete.

Permissions

Bluetooth and Nearby devices permissions allow the app to find and control compatible signs. Android 11 and earlier require location permission for Bluetooth scanning. The app uses that permission to discover nearby signs, rather than to determine your location. On iOS, Bluetooth access serves the same sign-discovery and control purpose.

You can decline or revoke permissions in your device settings. Bluetooth discovery and control will not work without the required permissions.

Storage, security and backups

Phone data is stored in the app's local preferences using the operating system's app storage. Sign data is stored locally on the controller. Communication for sign control takes place over Bluetooth, rather than through an internet service. Protect access to your phone and sign; no storage or wireless connection can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your operating system may include app data in device backups or restore it to another device, depending on your platform and backup settings. Backup providers and app stores handle their own platform data under their own privacy policies. Pixel & Pine does not operate those services.

Retention and deletion

Phone records remain until you remove them using available app controls, clear the app's storage in system settings or uninstall the app. Backup copies may remain under your operating system's backup settings and may be restored later.

Forgetting a sign removes it from the recent-sign list. It does not erase separately saved phone configurations or settings, or anything stored on the board. Clearing app storage removes the phone's local app records. Removing the app or clearing phone data does not erase configurations saved on a controller.

You can delete non-default configurations through the app. To delete the current startup default, first choose a different configuration as the default. On firmware that stores configurations on the board, those records remain until changed or deleted on that controller. Older phone libraries retained during an upgrade can remain on the phone even after an imported board configuration is deleted. If you need help removing remaining board settings before transferring a sign, contact us.

Contacting us

For privacy questions or help with your data, email hello@pixelandpine.ca. If you contact us, we receive the email address, message and any information you choose to include so we can respond. That correspondence is separate from the app's local sign data; you can ask us to delete it, subject to any applicable recordkeeping requirements.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page and its effective date when the app's data practices change. Please review it when installing an updated version of the app.
