Questions
How much does a custom LED team sign cost?

Custom LED team signs start at $350 CAD. The 12-inch size is $350 and the 18-inch is $480. Final price depends on the size, how many layers the design needs, and how much custom work goes into the crest. Corporate swag and larger commissions are quoted per project: send us the details and we'll come back with a number.

How long does a custom sign take?

Two to three weeks from approved design to finished sign, plus shipping time on top. Every piece is cut, assembled, and wired by hand, so that window covers design approval, laser cutting and 3D printing, stacking the layers in register, and wiring the LEDs. Larger runs take longer, and we'll tell you up front if yours will.

Do you ship outside Hamilton?

Yes. We ship across Canada and the United States from our workshop in Hamilton, Ontario. Delivery is a flat rate, so you'll see exactly what it costs before you pay, with no weight-based surprise at the end.

Do you deliver locally?

Yes. We deliver anywhere in Halton Region ourselves for a flat $20, so your piece never goes through a courier. Choose local delivery at checkout. Anywhere outside Halton goes by post.

Can you use our team's logo?

We need written consent from the league or team before we can reproduce their logo. Most minor hockey associations will grant it for a one-off gift or a locker room sign, and we'll tell you exactly what to ask for. If consent isn't available, we can design something original in your team's colours instead.

What artwork do you need from me?

Vector files are best, and a lossless PNG is the next best thing. Both keep every edge crisp when we scale the design up and separate it into cut layers. If all you have is a low-resolution JPEG, send it anyway and we will tell you honestly what we can do with it before you commit to anything.

What are the signs made of?

Baltic birch plywood and cast acrylic, with 3D printed detail work. A typical sign is a 6mm birch backing board, a 3mm cast acrylic crest ring, a 3D printed crest in PLA, and a diffuser layer over an addressable LED strip. Each layer is cut separately, then dry-fit, sanded, and glued in register by hand.

How do the signs light up?

Addressable LED strips sit behind a diffuser layer and are driven by a custom controller. The diffuser is what gives an even glow instead of visible hot spots, and the depth between layers is what makes the piece read as dimensional rather than printed.

How are the signs powered?

Everything we build runs at 5V. Most signs are made to be battery powered, because they usually need to travel: to a tournament, a banquet, a locker room. We can also build them to run off USB, or wire them for a standard power cable if the piece is going to live in one spot. Tell us where it will be used and we will pick the right one.

Can the names on a sign be changed later?

Yes. Our team signs use replaceable name plates, so a roster change doesn't mean buying a new sign. They also mount on a magnetic bracket, so the sign lifts off a wall or door frame without tools.

Do you make corporate swag as well as signs?

Yes. We make employee welcome kits, client and milestone gifts, event and conference merch, and LED-integrated awards. Swag is quoted per project: tell us the quantity, the timeline, and what you want branded.

Is there a minimum order for branded swag?

There is no official minimum, but we recommend at least 10 units for a branded run. Below that the per-unit setup cost climbs sharply, and a batch gives us enough consistency to hold quality across the whole run.

Can I buy directly from the site?

Yes. Anything in the shop can be bought online, with checkout handled by Stripe and prices in Canadian dollars. Bespoke pieces are marked quote-only, which means we'll price the work with you before anything is charged.

When do I pay?

Payment is made in full before production begins. For a large or bespoke commission we can talk about a deposit arrangement instead, so just ask when we are scoping the project.

Is there a warranty?

The LEDs and the controller are warrantied for one year from the date of purchase. If something stops working in that window, email us with your order details and we will sort it out.

What if my order arrives damaged, or I change my mind?

Email us at hello@pixelandpine.ca to start a return and we will take it from there. Every piece is made by hand and most are made specifically for you, so we handle these case by case rather than by a rigid policy. Tell us what happened and include your order details.

Do you make LED lighting controllers?

We're developing our own addressable LED controllers, manufactured in-house. For now they drive the lighting in our own signs. Email us if you'd like to hear when they're available on their own.

Who actually makes this?

Pixel & Pine is a husband-and-wife workshop in Hamilton, Ontario. We do the design, laser cutting, 3D printing, assembly, and wiring ourselves. Nothing is outsourced.

How do I start a custom project?

Send us the details through the contact form on our homepage, or email hello@pixelandpine.ca. Tell us what you're making, who it's for, and when you need it. We reply within one to two business days.
