Building the first LED team sign
How a flat sheet of birch becomes a lit, layered championship sign, cut, stacked, and wired by hand.
Every sign we make starts as flat stock. The magic is in the layers, and in getting each one to register perfectly against the next.
Cut
We laser-cut the backing, the ring, and the crest from Baltic birch, then 3D-print the raised lettering. Each layer is a separate pass on the xTool.
Stack
Layers are dry-fit, sanded, and glued in register. Depth is what makes the piece read as dimensional rather than printed.
Light
Addressable LEDs run behind a diffuser layer, driven by a controller we are now manufacturing in-house. Flip it on and the whole thing comes alive.
